Prepare cookie sheets by greasing or lining them with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter or margarine and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Stir in the molasses until well combined.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
Fold in the sliced almonds until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Drop the dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets, spacing them about two inches apart.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly browned around the edges.
Allow the cookies to cool on the cookie sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
